Given the opportunity,
what kind of toy box would you build ?

Here is a series of images taken around the lab. It is about 18 x 20, and is located in the 'barn' which is a 40 x 60 x 16 'butler' type metal building.

The west bench is primarily for development, loaded with PCs Macs, and a delicious assortment of test instruments.

The west bench is the most interesting, so here's some close-ups :
The Mac IIci is 'Ransom' and is the poor machine which gets to test all the new stuff...

The 4 test instruments are a childhood dream.

One more PC, used to cross test the video conferencing system, and our 7200 PPC which is a testbed for internet stuff like WebStar.
The Mac IIci and the SE are currently running redundant X-10 controllers and XTension.

The north bench is the parts and assembly center. The drawers are full of collections of parts from past projects and they're even pretty well organized !

The east bench is for build-up and analog troubleshooting.

Here we prove that we're not completely ignorant of the PC world. We have three of these ugly things. I find them useful as CDrom players over the network... :-)

'the PIPE' is our original product and it is still the backbone of the Lab. It just puts everything together, from the PROM blowers to the Norstar and the X-10 interfaces.

The south bench serves both metrology and telephony tests .

The storage bins are production parts and spare X-10 units of all kinds.
