Products that work great with XTension
- The ZephIR! Simple and robust Infrared Control.
- The ADB I/O -- ( Tutorials )
NOTE: The ADB I/O is no longer produced :-(
The Beehive made a great product for interfacing XTension to sensors and
controls which are not possible with X-10. Here's some of the specifications of the ADB I/O :
- Plugs into the Apple Desktop Bus port on the Macintosh.
- 4 ADB I/O units can be connected to one Macintosh.
- No external power supply needed.
- 4 relay outputs.
- The relay outputs have a timer function that can be
optionally set to, 0 to 25.5 seconds.
- 4 data acquisition channels. Each channel can be
configured as an analog input (8 bits resolution), a digital
input or a digital output.
- Maximum sample rate: 90 samples per second.
- 4 channels per sample. Max 12 samples per second
recommended for smooth simultaneous mouse operation.
- Connect to sensors for temperature, humidity, pressure etc.
- Connect to switches for motor control, HVAC etc.
- Easily scriptable from within XTension.
FerretTronics
FerretTronics offers chips which interface to common 'servo motors'...
which can push or pull or rotate small mechanisms !
Geeky ? Not really, just a matter of connecting some wires and adding some scripts...
MathPad
MathPad from Mark Widholm adds custom graphs of data from your XTension system. This site may be a bit slow sometimes, but it's there.
QuickCam -- ( Tutorials )
The QuickCam from Connectix is scriptable and can be commanded from scripts in XTension, even over your network:
WeatherTracker
The WeatherTracker software actively downloads weather data from the Internet. Incorporate graphs and video into your XTension system.
YoYo - Caller ID and paging -- ( Tutorials )
The YoYo from Big Island is scriptable and can be used both to record CallerID and to send alphanumeric messages to a pager. Note: Big Island ia also defunct :-(
This page is still in work.
